This week’s “Donuts for Do-Gooders” recipients were double nominated.
When you hear the term, Ottawa Co-op, what is your first thought?
It’s a new world. Isn’t it time we update the old adages we used to live by. Early birds don’t even want worms anymore. A penny saved might be a penny earned, but it won’t buy you squat. And if it ain’t broke, we don’t fix it anyway; we redesign it. And the old one, which was perfectly fine, becomes obsolete and starts taking up valuable space in the landfill.
The agriculture industry is a small world. It doesn’t always feel that way when you’re in the middle of wheat harvest or out checking calves on a quiet evening, but time and again, I am reminded of how tightly connected this industry really is.

Actor Hugh Grant caused quite an uproar earlier last month when he was caught dozing during a match at Wimbledon. To make matters worse, he was sitting in the Royal Box just behind Queen Camilla at the time. No word on how she felt about his catnap but plenty of other people shared videos and opinions. Some thought it was entertaining; others thought it was rude. I think mostly they were all thrilled to be getting YouTube views at someone else’s expense.

A milestone birthday earlier this month got me thinking about my parents and what their lives looked like at my age, which is vastly different from my life. In reflecting on the differences, it was really to see how my parents’ choices in their 20s and 30s have had a foundational impact on who I am and what my life is like today.
