50TH ANNIVERSARY

Ray and Helen Ramshaw, rural Wakarusa, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. April 13 at Wakarusa Presbyterian Church.

They were married in a candlelit ceremony April 17, 1964 at the Richter United Methodist Church near Ottawa by Rev. Boatright.

She is the daughter of the late John and Nellie Lederer, rural Pomona.

He is the son of Elizabeth Ramshaw, Lyndon, and the late George Ramshaw.

They have three children, Richard (Cathy) Ramshaw, Topeka; Julie (Mark) Clobes, Eudora; and Kristin Ramshaw, Olathe; and eight grandchildren, Ryan, Jackson, Cooper and Caelen Ramshaw, and Ling, Xin, Alex and Elijah Clobes.

Ray is a former employee of Ken Kern Booking Service, Executive Manor Inc. (Ramada Inn of Topeka) and Logan Business Machines. He enjoys caring for his herd of Simental cattle, traveling and carpentering.

Helen is a registered nurse and worked 42 years at Stormont Vail RHC and the VHA HH Corp. of Dallas, Texas, before retiring in 2011. She has been nationally certified in infusion therapy for 26 years. She also enjoys traveling, gardening, quilting and barbershop music.

The Ramshaw family were longtime members/leaders of the Wakarusa Valley 4-H Club and active members of the Wakarusa Presbyterian Church.
