Guild member receives award for mental illness art

Deb Horne, Ottawa, was selected as the Valeo Foundation Award winner with her oil painting, “Burst of Color.” Her artwork graced the poster for the Creations of Hope 2013 exhibit, which showcases artwork by artists experiencing mental illness.

Horne is an active member in the Ottawa Art Guild. Besides painting in oils, she often exhibits her unique spin-art and shares her work in artist trading cards. Her winning artwork was jury-selected from over 200 submissions and can be viewed at the Upstage Gallery in Topeka.
