How much snow did Ottawa get?
By The Herald Staff | 2/5/2014
A day-long Tuesday snowstorm that closed all Franklin County schools for a second day Wednesday dumped record precipitation on Ottawa.
The Ottawa Water Treatment Plant recorded 9 inches of snow Tuesday, or 0.60 inches of precipitation. That's a record, beating the previous 0.48 amount recorded in 1924, according to Herald archives.
Ottawa temperatures weren't as historically extreme, with the water treatment plant, which tracks local weather data, recording a high of 25 degrees Tuesday and a low of 2 degrees. The record high was 72, set in 1946; the record low was minus-13, set in 1905.
