Expert Tire taking Firestone name

Change isn’t always a bad thing, nor does it always mean major differences, Bill Crafton said.

Expert Tire, 102 S. Main St., Ottawa, is expected to rename its downtown location as a Firestone store May 26, Crafton, store manager, said. But little else will change, he said, except for possibly a new look.

The business already is owned by Firestone, Crafton said, and the name change reflects a nationwide move to make Expert Tire locations synonymous with the parent company. The business’ purple and yellow will be traded in for red and black, Crafton said.

“We may get a new paint job, but that’s it,” Crafton said.

The name change won’t affect services offered at the business, Crafton said, though the store could begin offering more brand-name goods.
