Another $99K added to HVAC project

By The Herald Staff | 3/14/2014

Franklin County commissioners voted this week to accept three contract change orders, which will add an additional $99,180 to the cost of replacing the Franklin County Courthouse’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. With the passage of the measure, the total cost of the project jumped from $1,629,355 to $1,728,535, according to county documents.

Lisa Johnson, Franklin County administrator, said the contract change orders were to address modifications that needed to be made to comply with the fire code, as well as add modifications that were not part of the original project. She said the contract orders added modifications to the project, including the requirement of fire and smoke dampers, duct smoke detectors, replacing sections of the vault floor in five locations and insulating rafters in the attic.
