Sheriff’s office involved in manhunt

Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies and state Wildlife and Parks officers were searching for a suspect in a wooded area Thursday morning in western Franklin County.

“Wildlife and Parks had an incident. They needed to contact some people, and they asked us to serve as back-up,” Jeff Richards, Franklin County sheriff, said Thursday. “There is not a public safety concern.”

The sheriff could not provide additional details at this time. The manhunt remains ongoing.
