WELLSVILLE — No one was injured when a 1995 Isuzu Trooper driven by a 63-year-old Le Loup man crashed into Casey’s General Store early Friday evening in Wellsville, police said.

Coulter Lester was preparing to stop 6:18 p.m. Friday in front of the store, 403 Main St., when his foot slipped off the brake and hit the accelerator, John Blair, Wellsville police chief, said. Lester was unharmed and no one inside the store was injured when the Isuzu struck the southwest corner of the building, Blair said.

The Isuzu came to a stop about two feet inside the building, Blair said. The chief did not have a total damage estimate for the store and its contents or the vehicle, he said. Lester was able to back the vehicle out of the store and drive it home, Blair said.

The damaged section of the building was boarded up, but the store remained in operation, Blair said.

A damage estimate was not available Monday afternoon from officials at Casey’s headquarters in Ankeny, Iowa.
