Ottawa honors retiring school workers

Eleven retiring Ottawa school district teachers and staff members were recognized for their combined 260 years of service to the district Monday night at the school board meeting.

Retiring school district employees in attendance shook hands with board members and were presented with gift clocks at the start of the meeting in the district office, 1404 S. Ash St., Ottawa. The eleven retirees, their job titles and years of service are:

• Donna Zornes, counselor, Garfield Elementary School, 39 years.

• J.D. Horsch, counselor, Ottawa Middle School, 35 years.

• Linda Fredricks, librarian, Garfield, 34 years.

• Gloria Kruse, librarian, OMS, 31 years.

• Pattie Wadkins, secretary, Eugene Field Elementary School, 28 years.

• Vickie Hall, fourth-grade teacher, Lincoln Elementary School, 19 years.

• Cathy Naden, interrelated teacher, The Achievement Program, 11 years.

• Becky Nevergold, Communities in Schools of Ottawa executive director, nine years.

• Bob Fluke, math teacher, OMS, seven years.

• Elonda Hogue, fourth-grade teacher, Eugene Field, seven years.
