TOPEKA — U.S. Rep. Lynn Jenkins, R-Kansas, wants to help Kansans find jobs, her office said Friday.

Jenkins’ annual jobs fair is set for 9 a.m. Monday at Agriculture Hall in the Kansas Expocentre, Topeka.

More than 900 people attended last year’s jobs fair, according to a release for the congresswoman’s office. This year’s fair includes 72 employers, which are looking to fill 1,030 positions. Job seekers do not need to register for the free event.

“The jobs fair is an opportunity for our friends and neighbors who are struggling to find work or are stuck in a dead-end job connect with employers that are actually hiring,” Jenkins said. “Even in a difficult economic climate we have received overwhelming support from the local business community as more than 70 employers have registered. Kansans who work hard deserve the chance to find good paying jobs, and I encourage you to make plans to attend this year’s jobs fair.”

Participating employers include a wide range of industries, such as Mars Chocolate North America, Kansas Highway Patrol, The Pampered Chef, Baker University, Boys and Girls Club of Topeka, VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, Kansas Army National Guard, Gamestop, Kansas State University, Frito-Lay, IBEW 226, Sac & Fox Casino, Boy Scouts of America, and Verizon Wireless.
