Overbrook trailhead event Saturday

OVERBROOK — A dedication of the Overbrook trailhead of the Landon Nature Trail is set for this weekend.

Trail enthusiasts plan to gather 10 a.m. Saturday at the trailhead on south Maple Street in Overbrook. A bike ride and walk on the trail segment, which runs one mile, will follow the ribbon-cutting ceremony, a news release said.

Trail enthusiasts plan to gather 10 a.m. Saturday at the trailhead on south Maple Street in Overbrook. A bike ride and walk on the trail segment, which runs one mile, will follow the ribbon-cutting ceremony, a news release said.

The Landon Nature Trail is a 38-mile trail being developed by Kanza Rail-Trails Conservancy and is currently complete from the trailhead at 17th and Monroe streets in Topeka south 13 miles to the Clinton Wildlife Area and now the one mile section at Overbrook, the release said. Once completed, the trail with run perpendicular into the 117-mile Flint Hills Nature Trail, which runs east and west from Osawatomie to Herington.
