City urges cycling this week

Ottawa residents are encouraged to ride their bicycles to work this week as part of National Bike Month, according to a City of Ottawa news release.

Friday is National Bike to Work Day, the release said, and the city is encouraging residents to reach out to your fellow co-workers or neighbors and try to arrange a group ride to promote the event.

The City of Ottawa has bike lanes on North Main Street and West 15th Street, and Prairie Spirit Rail Trail runs the length of town from the Old Depot Museum, 135 W. Tecumseh St., to I-35, the release said. City officials encouraged everyone to wear their bicycle helmets.
