Sharp was tabbed Monday by the Ottawa City Commission to serve the remainder of Cal Lantis’ unexpired term, which runs through 2016. Lantis recently resigned from the board.

The commission also appointed local author Bryan Schmidt to fill an open position on the Ottawa Library Board. The term is for four years. And the commission appointed Kimber Corn, a nearly four-year resident of the community, to fill an opening on the Ottawa Planning Commission. The term is for three years. Corn is assistant director of Ottawa-based East Central Kansas Economic Opportunity Corporation’s Head Start program.

The city still has two openings on the Ottawa Accessibility Advisory Board. Each term is for two years.
