TOPEKA — Flags across the state have been ordered to half-staff Thursday in honor of National Peace Officers Memorial Day.
“Every day, law enforcement officers do a job that is difficult, dangerous and often unappreciated,” Gov. Sam Brownback said. “It is important that we recognize and celebrate the courage and sacrifice of these men and women.”
National Peace Officers Memorial Day was established in 1961 to recognize local, state and federal law enforcement and peace officials.
