RICHMOND — With the school year coming to a close, the Central Heights school board recently accepted several resignations and approved recommendations for a few new district hires, Dawn Burns, board clerk, said.

The board accepted the resignations of Randy Hinderliter, head wrestling coach; Kent Schulte, head softball coach; and Doug North, assistant baseball coach, Burns said. The board also accepted the resignation of Michael Fox, bus driver.

To fill some of the resignations the board accepted this year, the board approved contracts for Jonathan Garcia, instrumental music teacher; Ashley Rowan, middle school social studies teacher; Mike Swendson, head wrestling coach; Lea Stegner, head softball coach; Phillip Pearson, assistant girls basketball coach; and Jinny Schweiger, assistant volleyball coach, Burns said. The board also hired Robert Moews and Floyd Jacobs as bus drivers.

The board also received an update from Lonnie Shanks, of Tevis Architects, and Chand Henson, of Loyd Builders, on the school’s construction projects. The estimated completion date for all projects is Aug. 1, Burns said.

One of the projects includes installing new bleacher seating in the school gym, which will include removing the original bleachers — beginning today — and installing the new bleachers the week of July 3, she said.
