Vicious dog meeting rescheduled

By The Herald Staff | 6/9/2014

WELLSVILLE — A public meeting to discuss Wellsville’s vicious dog ordinance has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. July 30 at City Hall, 411 Main St., Wellsville. The meeting originally was set for July 1 at City Hall. The rescheduling stemmed from a court session the same day, Tammy Jones, Wellsville city clerk, said Monday morning.

Wellsville currently has an ordinance banning Pit Bull Terriers and Staffordshire Terriers from within the city limits. The public meeting was set after Lisa Roberts, rural Wellsville and registered veterinary technician, and several supporters presented information to the council about breed-specific legislation during the council’s meeting May 28.

Ottawa city commissioners considered rescinding their city’s breed-specific pit bull ban earlier this year, but after hearing from city officials and community members, no action was taken.
