Meeting to slice into meaty topics

To explore needs and opportunities for meat processing facilities and food hub development in Eastern Kansas, Lake Region RC&D and Kansas Rural Center invite Kansas farmers, ranchers, meat processors and economic development personnel to an informational meeting 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Franklin County Annex, 1416 S. Main St., Ottawa, according to a news release. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Speakers are expected to provide information about local food market opportunities for meats, business entities and planning, as well as potential funding sources for processing and storage facilities, the release said.
