Police ID woman found dead

A 29-year-old woman who was found dead in her apartment Sunday morning in a multi-family residence at 912 S. Cedar St., Ottawa, has been officially identified as Michelle Morrissey, an Ottawa Police Department news release said Friday.

Ottawa police responded at 9:48 a.m. Sunday to a report of a dead body found in an apartment in the 900 block of Cedar Street, the news release said. The woman appeared to have been dead for several days, police said.

Detectives continue to investigate the cause and manner of death and await results of the autopsy and toxicology reports, Capt. Adam Weingartner, with the Ottawa Police Department, said Friday in the release.
