Man arrested after oversleeping Happy Hour, his welcome at Sonic

A 38-year-old Ottawa man found out the hard way that the Sonic Drive-In is not a motor lodge.

Ottawa police were called about 5:30 p.m. Saturday to the restaurant, 1535 S. Main St., Ottawa, to investigate a report of a driver passed out in a vehicle.

Ottawa police were called about 5:30 p.m. Saturday to the restaurant, 1535 S. Main St., Ottawa, to investigate a report of a driver passed out in a vehicle.

Police arrested David Wedman on suspicion of driving under the influence, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, possession of depressants, carrying a concealed weapon, obstruction, no proof of liability insurance and a Franklin County arrest warrant, according to a police report.

Wedman had a martial arts throwing star in his possession, and he was charged with obstruction for providing a false name to police, Capt. Adam Weingartner, with the Ottawa Police Department, said in an email.

Wedman remained in the Franklin County Adult Detention Center, 305 S. Main St., Monday afternoon, awaiting a court appearance.
