Public transportation sets special rides to Farmers Market

Franklin County Public Transportation now offers rides to the Ottawa Farmers Market for county residents, the East Central Kansas Aging and Disability Resource Center announced Wednesday.

Special farmers market operation hours are set for 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesdays and only will be offered during the farmers market season, May to October. Transportation is to and from the market only, the agency said, and a suggested donation of $1 each way is encouraged.

To schedule a ride, contact the Franklin County Public Transportation Office at (785) 242-7440. A 24-hour reservation notice is appreciated, and rides will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Passengers must be ready within five minutes of the scheduled pick up time to ensure a timely arrival to the farmers market for all passengers. Residents outside Ottawa city limits may be scheduled for pick up before 3:30 p.m.
