Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt announced Friday a series of Kansas Open Meetings and Open Records Act training seminars, one of which is planned near Franklin County. Schmidt’s office set the final meeting of the training opportunities for 9 a.m. to noon July 26 at the Paola Justice Center, 805 N. Pearl St., Paola.

The free seminars open to the public. Space at each location is limited, and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants can register on the Kansas Attorney General’s website, www.ag.ks.gov, or by calling (785) 296-2215 or (888) 428-8436.

“Transparency in government requires elected officials, public employees, members of the media and the public to be informed about Kansas laws,” Schmidt said. “We are pleased to once again offer these seminars on the basics of our open-government laws.”
