Ottawa police and firefighters rushed to the scene of a potential fire hazard at the park, 320 N. Locust St., Ottawa, when an out-of-control Chevy Camaro driven by Bryan Hull, 20, Wellsville, struck a utility pole and caused a downed power line to arc, according to reports from Ottawa police and fire departments.

The Camaro was traveling at a high rate of speed about 8:30 p.m. when Hull lost control of the vehicle, police said.

Firefighters remained on the scene Friday evening until a utility crew could arrive to repair the arcing line, Jeff Carner, Ottawa fire chief, said Monday.

Hull was cited with reckless driving, basic speed, driving on laned roadways and no insurance, according to a police report.
