Santorum endorses Brownback

OLATHE — Gov. Sam Brownback has received an endorsement from a former presidential candidate.

Former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pennsylvania, endorsed Brownback’s re-election during a campaign event Monday in Olathe, according to media reports. Santorum represented Pennsylvania from 1995-2007 and ran for president in 2012. He won the Kansas Republican primary, but ultimately lost bid to Mitt Romney. Brownback had been discussed at the time as a possible runningmate for Santorum.

“We need to rally behind this man. This man is a visionary,” Santorum said, according to the Topeka Capital Journal. “This shouldn’t be a race. We all need to get to it. We need this to be a decisive, big win. It’s only going to happen if you give all.”
