Neosho firing up HVAC program

GARNETT — Neosho County Community College aims to offer a cool new program at its Anderson County campus.

The college is launching an HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) certificate and degree program beginning in with the fall semester at the Goppert Eastern Kansas Rural Technology Center in Garnett. The first two semesters cover the electrical and heating side of HVAC, Neosho said in a press release, with later semesters covering the refrigeration and airflow side of the trade.

Applicable careers aided by the program’s training include service, installation and sales of HVAC equipment for residential and commercial applications, as well as facility maintenance, manufacturing and utilities industries. Job titles include service technician, installation technician, supervisors, inspectors, independent contractors and small business owners, the college said. The medium earnings for the industry are $18.75 hour.
