Rantoul man arrested after shooting

A 32-year-old Rantoul man was in custody Thursday morning after a late-night shooting in rural Franklin County.
Jacob Leach, 32, was arrested 3:24 a.m. Thursday on suspicion of aggravated assault and aggravated battery, Jeff Richards, Franklin County sheriff, said midday Thursday. He is being held at the Franklin County Adult Detention Center, 305 S. Main St., Ottawa.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office responded 10:39 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a shooting in the 1100 block of Vermont Terrace, rural Franklin County, near Rantoul. A 52-year-old male victim was transported from the scene by the Franklin County Emergency Medical Services.
Members of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Kansas Highway Patrol, Ottawa Police Department and Miami County Sheriff’s Office were involved in the investigation and search of the suspect.
