Guard plans open house today

Fair-goers in Franklin County, as well as other community members, have an opportunity this weekend to visit the local National Guard Armory.

The 250th Forward Support Company, Kansas Army National Guard, is planning an open house 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the Ottawa National Guard Armory, 208 W. 17th St. The open houses is to include multiple vehicle and equipment displays in the facility. Soldiers are expected to be available to explain the functions and capabilities of the vehicles and equipment.

The Guard company recently completed its annual training at Fort Riley. Soldiers conducted training missions consisting of logistical convoys, maintenance operations and support, communications training, field feeding operations, and supply operations in support of the 2nd Battalion, 130th Field Artillery High Mobile Artillery Rocket System live fire exercise.

The 250th Forward Support Company is headquartered in Ottawa with detachments in Hiawatha and Clay Center.
