The Kansas Department of Transportation announced Monday that road work set to disrupt I-35 traffic through mid-September has been delayed by recent rain. The project had been scheduled to begin Monday, but now is expected to start 6 a.m. Thursday.

The right lanes of northbound and southbound I-35 at Homestead Lane in Johnson County — the site of the new divergent diamond interchange servicing the Kansas City Logistics Park intermodal rail hub — are expected to be closed 24/7 for ramp tie-in work through early fall, KDOT said.

“Drivers should expect delays during peak commute times and should allow extra time for their daily commutes,” the state agency said in a press release.
