Kate Shelton, Lawrence, graduated this summer with a journalism degree from the University of Kansas. She copy edited and reported for the university’s newspaper, the University Daily Kansan, during her senior year.

Before attending KU, Shelton spent two years at Johnson County Community College working to transfer to a larger school. During all four years of her college career, Shelton worked as a full-time employee in customer service for Cosentino’s Price Chopper, Gardner.

Shelton graduated from Gardner-Edgerton High School in 2010. At GEHS, she was an anchor for the school’s live daily news show. Shelton now lives in Lawrence with her boyfriend, Chris, and their dachshund, Dan.

Shelton is excited to intern at The Herald, she said, and can’t wait to learn more about the community.
