A benefit tractor pull is scheduled to start 11 a.m. today north of Ottawa.

The event — “Pulling For Emery” — is expected to aid Emery Harris, Ottawa, who turns 3 today, Nayrea Reed, Emery’s great-grandmother, said.

Emery suffers from a brain tumor, which is too deep to remove surgically, and the money raised from the event will go toward trying to get Emery into a trial program in Florida that focuses on proton radiation, Reed said. Emery’s parents, Richard and Tara Harris, have established a “Pulling For Emery” bank account.

The tractor pull is located two miles north of Ottawa on Old U.S. 59 and 3/4 of a mile east. Signs were to be up this morning to point the correct direction, Reed said.

Hot dogs, soda, water, cookies and cake will be served, with donations accepted, Reed said. A raffle also is planned.

Those interested in participating in the tractor pull can register at the event, Reed said.
