Franklin County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded 1:32 p.m. Thursday to a report of a man attempting to throw cigarettes over the recreation yard fence at the Franklin County Adult Detention Center, 305 S. Main St., Ottawa.

After further investigation, Victor Brewer, 31, and Mark Baber, 32, were arrested by sheriff’s deputies on suspicion of trafficking contraband into a correctional facility. Fannie Ainsworth, 66, Ottawa, also was listed in the case as a suspect to conspiracy to trafficking contraband into a correctional facility, according to a sheriff’s report.

Baber made headlines in March after he escaped from Franklin County District Court custody (after being sentenced for a probation violation) and eluded deputies for more than a week.
