Ottawa’s homegrown state representative recently returned from a regional training program designed for emerging state leaders in the Midwest.

Rep. Blaine Finch, R-Ottawa, was chosen earlier this summer to attend the four-day Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development training, which ended Wednesday, in Madison, Wis.

“The Bowhay Institute was a great opportunity to meet and interact with legislators from all over the Midwest and Canada,” Finch said. “We learned about issues facing our region and attended excellent professional development programing designed to make us better legislators and better public servants. I was honored to be selected for this year’s institute and look forward to applying many of the skills learned there for the benefit of the people I serve.”

Finch was joined by fellow legislators from Kansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin, as well as leaders from several Canadian provinces, according to the institute.
