Flags lowered in honor of late Kansas state representative

Flags will be lowered to half-staff in honor of state Rep. Joe Edwards, R-Haysville, who died Tuesday evening, according to a news release from Gov. Sam Brownback’s office.

Brownback ordered flags to be flown at half-staff from sun-up to sun-down throughout the state of Kansas in honor of Edwards from now until his interment, which will be announced at a later date. Edwards was elected to the Kansas House of Representatives in 2012, representing Sedgwick County.

“I am deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Representative Joe Edwards,” Brownback said. “We are grateful for his service to the state. The Lt. Governor and I, along with Mary and Ruth, extend our sympathies to Joe’s wife Sally. We will hold her in our prayers during this difficult time.”
