Cobbs selected for Greenbush

Ryan Cobbs, Ottawa High School principal, has been selected to join a team of current and aspiring school district leaders from 22 Kansas school districts to participate in Greenbush District Leadership for the 2014-2015 school year, according to an Ottawa school district news release.

Hosted quarterly during a two-day retreat in Eastern Kansas, Greenbush District Leadership utilizes district leaders, Kansas Association of School Boards representatives, university leaders, education specialists and partners in the private sector to provide day-long professional development activities for participants through the course of the school year, the release said.

In addition to a focus of professional networking and team building, each of the Greenbush District Leadership meetings will focus on leadership standards, the release said, adding that graduates of the program will have gained valuable experience in each of the following areas:

• Developing a shared vision for district leadership.

• Advocating for student and professional growth.

• Operations and facility management.

• Collaborating with and mobilizing community resources.

• Leading with integrity.

• Managing the political and cultural aspects of district leadership.
