Olathe man ID’d in firey car fatality

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Department said a body found in a burning car last Sunday near 183rd Street and Clare Road near Gardner has been identified as Jerome Stonebraker, 61, Olathe.

The scene at 183rd Street and Clare Road was reported just after 5:30 a.m. Sunday, with Johnson County firefighters and Johnson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responding, according to media reports.

The scene at 183rd Street and Clare Road was reported just after 5:30 a.m. Sunday, with Johnson County firefighters and Johnson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responding, according to media reports.

“The death has been basically ruled as no criminal activity involved,” Tom Erickson, Johnson County Sheriff’s deputy, said. “It’s not a suspicious death.”

The immediate cause of death is still unknown, Erickson said, but the sheriff’s department is not looking for any suspects.
