Franklin County Jail

Sheriff’s Department Arrests

• 12:36 p.m. Tuesday, Franklin County Jail, 305 S. Main St., Zed McGovern, 25, Newton, on a Franklin County warrant.

• 7:32 a.m. Wednesday, 500 block of Jackson Road, William Martin II, 20, Pomona, on suspicion of criminal damage to property when he reportedly punctured his girlfriend’s tire with a sword, according to a sheriff’s report. Martin also was arrested on a Franklin County warrant.

• 9:43 p.m. Wednesday, Franklin County Jail, 305 S. Main St., Curtis Brown, 23, Ottawa, on two Franklin County warrants.

Police Department Arrests

• 5:41 p.m. Wednesday, 600 block of South Burroughs Street, Christopher Hines, 36, Ottawa, on suspicion of criminal damage to property during a domestic incident, according to a police report.

Incidents

• 4:38 p.m. Tuesday, 500 block of Jackson Road, a 28-year-old Pomona woman reported her vehicle’s tires were slashed. Estimated damage was $395.

Thefts

• 4:13 p.m. Monday, 600 block of Hayes Street, Pomona, a 49-year-old Topeka man reported that a known suspect stole some of his military gear. Loss was estimated at $2,100.

Accidents

• 8:03 a.m. Tuesday, Indiana Road and Osborne Terrace, a 1991 Chevrolet S10 driven by Joshua Carter, 23, Ottawa, was struck by a 2008 Ford F-350 driven by Delbert Edwards, 70, Ottawa, according to a sheriff’s report.

Incidents

• 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, 900 block of South Olive Street, a 23-year-old Ottawa woman reported she was battered by her 28-year-old boyfriend.

Accidents

• 7:33 a.m. Wednesday, 600 block of South Burroughs Street, a vehicle driven by Jesse Steuber, 32, Ottawa, and a vehicle driven by Angel Gregg, 41, Ottawa, collided while both vehicles were making a turn. Both drivers were cited for improper turning, according to a police report.

• 7:50 a.m. Wednesday, 2300 block of Eisenhower Avenue, a vehicle driven by Justin Ingram, 28, Ottawa, struck a vehicle driven by Florence Milliman, 70, Pomona. Ingram was cited for limitations on overtaking a lane of traffic on the left, according to a police report.

Fire Calls

Ottawa Fire Department

• 11:58 p.m. Wednesday, 331 E. 11th St., firefighters responded to a reported cooking fire. Burned food on a stove generated light smoke that activated the alarm system, but there was no fire and no damage, according to a fire department report.

• Firefighters assisted with five medical calls Wednesday.
