Ottawa firefighters responded about 9:20 p.m. to 1126 S. Hickory St., where they found a small fire on the second floor had been extinguished upon their arrival. The blaze caused an estimated $1,000 in damage, according to a fire report.

“There were no injuries, and a minor child was involved with the cause,” Jeff Carner, Ottawa fire chief, said.
