School district agrees to raise demanded by teachers union

The Ottawa school board voted 7-0 Monday night to authorize its negotiating team to offer 0.5 percent raise and other incentives to the school district’s teachers.
The school board and the Ottawa Education Association, which represents the district’s teachers, have been at impasse over the 0.5 percent raise.
District officials said additional at-risk funding, based on enrollment numbers, made the proposed raise possible.
David White, board president, said he hoped the negotiating teams could meet soon to discuss the board’s contract offer.
