The Christmas Bureau is an annual East Central Kansas Economic Opportunity Corp. nonprofit project. It is accepting applications for assistance through Nov. 27 at the Franklin County Community Center, 517 E. Third St., Ottawa, according to an ECKAN press release.

The Christmas Bureau is designed to help low-income families during the Christmas holiday by providing gifts for children and food for individuals and families, the release said. The program helped 282 households and 640 individuals last year.

Community members wanting to help provide food and toys to families and children in need may make a monetary donation, drop off food and new toys at the ECKAN’s Franklin County Community Center, 1320 S. Ash St., Ottawa, or adopt a family to provide gifts or a Christmas dinner.

This year’s goal is to raise $6,000 to help local families in need during the holiday season.

Cash donations may be sent by check to ECKAN Christmas Bureau, P.O. Box 40, Ottawa KS 66067.
