Volunteers and staff are expected to be recognized next week for their work throughout the year at East Central Kansas Economic Opportunity Corp.’s 47th annual fellowship dinner.

The dinner is set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ottawa High School, 1120 S. Ash St., according to an ECKAN press release.

“People from about eight counties usually attend,” Richard Jackson, president and chief executive officer of ECKAN, said. “We recognize volunteers and partners that have worked with us over the past year.”

The dinner gives staff, volunteers and the board of directors an opportunity to come together and share a meal, Jackson said.

“We usually give [staff and volunteers] a plaque or what have you,” he said. “We break it down to volunteers that have specifically been involved in Head Start that have come in and read to kids and organizations that have been involved in our programs in some way, and we also have recognition of staff. We have several outstanding staff members of the year and those who have been with the agency for [milestone] years.”

Tickets are required for the dinner and seating is limited, organizers said. Email shescott@eckan.org for more information.
