• If there ever were lines separating the farmer who is the businessman of the county and the merchant who is the businessman of the town, they are gone now, as far as Franklin County is concerned. About 50 farmers joined the Retail Merchants Association this afternoon at the meeting of the Farmers Institute at the courthouse.

• Work on Ottawa University’s new gymnasium will be started next spring as soon as the weather permits, and it is probable the cornerstone of the new building will be laid on Charter Day, April 21. The tentative plans for the new structure provide for a three-story building constructed of brick with stone trimmings. The dimensions are to be 70 feet-by-106 feet, the height to be approximately 30 feet. A swimming pool 20 feet-by-40 feet, a basketball court 50 feet-by-70 feet, a running track suspended from the ceiling, locker rooms and shower baths are provide for in the plans; the estimated costs of the building completed being $30,000.

• About 200 persons attended the dedication of Princeton’s new $8,000 school building, which was this afternoon. The building is made of brick, two stories high and is 58 feet-by-46 feet, containing a large assembly room, a library and four modern classrooms. School has been held in the new building since Nov. 25, but the formal opening was not until this afternoon.
