A report of two gunmen entering Walmart Supercenter prompted a brief evacuation of the Ottawa big box store early Saturday morning — but the report proved to be false, Ottawa police said.

Several Ottawa police officers responded 4:47 a.m. Saturday to the store, 2101 S. Princeton St.

An unknown person reported seeing two armed subjects enter the business, according to the police report. After evacuating the store, officers conducted a search of the building, but no armed subjects were found, the report said.

“Because of the time of the call, store operations were impacted minimally,” Capt. Adam Weingartner, with the Ottawa Police Department, said in an email. “The information provided to dispatch appears to be false.”
