Ottawa hunter shoots self in foot

OVERBROOK — A 28-year-old Ottawa man who shot himself in the foot Saturday morning during a hunting mishap in Osage County was transported to a Topeka-area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to an Osage County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Osage County Sheriff’s deputies responded 7:07 a.m. Saturday to the 20100 block of South Shawnee Heights Road in Osage County where they found Justin Smith had sustained a gunshot wound to his right foot, the release said. An investigation determined the incident to be an accidental shooting, according to the release.
