Sheriff’s Department Arrests

• 1:50 p.m. Monday, 2000 block of Stafford Road, Richard Crook Jr., 41, Lansing, on suspicion of motor vehicle theft. A second suspect, an unidentified white man, fled the area and was not located, according to a sheriff’s report.

• 2:20 p.m. Monday, Franklin County Jail, 305 S. Main St., Alyssa Kennington, 20, Ottawa, on a City of Ottawa warrant.

• 4:25 p.m. Monday, Franklin County Annex, 1418 S. Main St., Robert Branam, 43, Pomona, on a City of Ottawa warrant.

• 4:16 p.m. Tuesday, Community Corrections, 1418 S. Main St., William Martin II, 21, Garnett, on a City of Ottawa warrant.

Sheriff’s Department News


• 10:43 a.m. Monday, 4300 block of John Brown Road, a sheriff’s deputy and a veterinarian responded to an animal complaint and found three dogs suffering from mange and malnutrition, according to a sheriff’s report.


• 6:02 p.m. Monday, 3900 block of Colorado Road, a 2006 Chrysler 300 driven by Matthew Gray, 18, Overbrook, was northbound in the 4000 block of Colorado Road when it struck a deer.

• 10:48 a.m. Monday, 500 block of South Main Street, a 62-year-old Ottawa woman reported an unknown suspect damaged the Dietrich Cabin.

• 11:27 a.m. Monday, 900 block of South Walnut Street, a 21-year-old Ottawa woman reported she had been battered by a known suspect.

• 1:22 p.m. Monday, 1100 block of North Sycamore Street, a 37-year-old Ottawa woman reported a known suspect violated a protection order.

• 8:28 p.m. Monday, 1600 block of South Main Street, a 48-year-old Ottawa man was taken into protective custody after threatening to harm himself.

• 3:06 p.m. Tuesday, 1200 block of West Second Street, an 11-year-old Ottawa boy was taken into protective custody because of ungovernable behavior, according to a police report.


• 7:46 p.m. Monday, Casey’s General Store, 334 N. Main St., a 41-year-old Ottawa woman reported someone stole motor fuel.

• 2:28 p.m. Tuesday, 1500 block of South Twyman Street, a 67-year-old Ottawa woman reported an unknown suspect used her bank debit card to purchase items.


• 6:54 p.m. Monday, 800 block of East Logan Street, a vehicle driven by Nancy Falkner, 47, Ottawa, struck a deer.

• Tuesday: 800 block of Main Street, assist other agency; 600 block of Walnut Street, special assessment; 500 block of East Third Street, animal complaint; 600 block of Pine Street, animal complaint; 200 block of East Tenth Street, suspicious activity; 1900 block of North 200 Road, warrant arrest.

• 9:56 p.m. Monday, 800 block of North Cherry Street, assisted invalid.

• 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, 628 N. Sycamore St., investigated smoke odor.

• 3:17 p.m. Tuesday, 1225 W. Second St., water and ice-related rescue.

• Firefighters assisted with eight medical calls Monday.
