Police Department Arrests

• 12:43 p.m. Monday, 700 block of North Sycamore Street, Jonathan Buckley, 18, Ottawa, on a Douglas County warrant.

• 11:55 p.m. Tuesday, 500 block of North Hickory Street, Justin Powell, 34, Ottawa, on an Allen County warrant.

• 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, 1600 block of South Hickory Street, Calvin Taylor, 29, Ottawa, on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, refusal of a preliminary breath test, transporting an open container and driving while revoked, after he was stopped for a traffic infraction, according to a police report.

• 4:46 p.m. Tuesday, Franklin County Jail, 305 S. Main St., William Worthy Jr., 20, Ottawa, on a City of Ottawa warrant.

Thefts

• 11:14 a.m. Monday, 700 block of North Sycamore Street, a vehicle driven by Jonathan Buckley, 18, Ottawa, was approaching an intersection and struck a vehicle driven by Raymond Tegtmeyer IV, 19, Ottawa. Buckley was cited for failure to yield at an uncontrolled intersection, according to a police report.

• 1:05 p.m. Monday, Castrol, 1513 S. Main St., a 67-year-old Lenexa man reported property was stolen from his business. Shawn Shutts, 35, Ottawa, later was arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft and resisting arrest.

Accidents

• 3:45 p.m. Monday, 400 block of North Main Street, Michael Paterson, 23, Ottawa, was running across traffic and was struck by a vehicle driven by Grace Nilges, 71, Ottawa, according to a police report. Paterson received minor scrapes and refused medical attention at the scene, the report said.

• 4 p.m. Monday, Neosho County Community College, 900 block of East Logan Street, a vehicle driven by Jonathan Riley, 21, Ottawa, struck an unattended vehicle in the parking lot and left the scene, according to a police report. Riley was cited for failure to report an accident, the report said.

• 4:43 p.m. Monday, 1100 block of College Street, a vehicle driven by Robert Dingus, 44, Spring Hill, was southbound on College Street when it failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a vehicle driven by Tracey Wade, 44, Ottawa, that was eastbound on 11th Street, according to a police report. Dingus was cited with disobeying a stop sign, the report said.

• 6:23 p.m. Monday, Walmart Supercenter, 2101 S. Princeton St., Margaret Sanford, 47, Ottawa, reported an unknown suspect struck her vehicle while it was parked at Walmart and then left the scene.

• Monday: 800 block of Main Street, suspicious activity; 800 block of Main Street, information report; 1000 block of Poplar Street, welfare check; 4500 block of Meadow Lane, assist outside agency.

• Tuesday: 200 block of Meadowbrook Lane, animal complaint.

Fire Calls

Ottawa Fire Department

• 2:17 p.m. Monday, 804 N. Oak St., firefighters investigated a report of a natural gas odor. No leak was found.

• 8:03 p.m. Tuesday, 501 S. Otter Lane, smoke detector activation. No fire reported.

• Firefighters assisted with five medical calls Monday and Tuesday.
