Police Department Arrests

• 9:11 p.m. Wednesday, Franklin County Jail, 305 S. Main St., Amber Clemens, 27, Rantoul, on a City of Ottawa warrant.

• 9:44 a.m. Thursday, Franklin County Jail, 305 S. Main St., William Lute III, 24, Ottawa, on a City of Ottawa warrant.

• 2:58 p.m. Thursday, 500 block of West 11th Street, Ashley McCrea, 23, Ottawa, on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia.

• 3:58 p.m. Thursday, 100 block of West 10th Street, Jason Smith, 35, Richmond, on suspicion of possession of an unlawful weapon and paraphernalia; Jessica Velez, 30, Ottawa, on suspicion of possession of an unlawful weapon and transporting an open container; Christina Velez, 34, Ottawa, on suspicion of disorderly conduct, after officers responded to a disturbance and the suspect’s car was stopped, according to a police report. The weapons included a nightstick-type club and fixed-blade hunting knives concealed in the vehicle, according to police.

• 4:42 p.m. Thursday, 1600 block of South Main Street, Sherry Ferguson, 21, Ottawa, on a City of Ottawa warrant.

Incidents

• 1:05 p.m. Thursday, 1100 block of South College Street, Norma Gardner, 87, Ottawa, reported her husband Edwin Gardner, 88, Ottawa, was missing. A Silver Alert was issued and Gardner was later located uninjured.

• Thursday, no time given, Ottawa Police Department, 715 W. Second St., a 51-year-old Ottawa woman reported a known 13-year-old Ottawa girl was sexually assaulted by a known suspect. The case is under investigation.

Thefts

• 7:05 a.m. Wednesday, 100 block of North Cedar Street, a 48-year-old Ottawa man reported the theft of items.

• 3:12 p.m. Wednesday, 700 block of East Fifth Street, a 22-year-old Ottawa man reported theft of items and damage to his residence.

• Thursday, no time given, Walmart Supercenter, 2101 S. Princeton St., a 24-year-old Garnett woman reported an unknown suspect stole an item from the store.

Accidents

• 2:38 p.m. Thursday, 500 block South Hickory Street, Robert Wade Jr., 19, Ottawa, reported an unknown suspect’s vehicle struck his vehicle.

• Wednesday: 300 block of West Third Street, medical call; 700 block of Main Street, suspicious activity; 400 block of Pine Street, animal complaint; 500 block of Main Street, suspicious activity.

• Thursday: 400 block of Main Street, recovered/returned property.

• 5 p.m. Wednesday, 1033 S. Walnut St., firefighters responded to a brush and grass fire.

• Firefighters assisted with five medical calls Wednesday and Thursday.

• 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, Reno and Nevada roads, Lincoln-Ottawa-Harrison and Wellsville firefighters responded to a grass fire.

• 11:47 a.m. Wednesday, Sand Creek and Nebraska roads, LOH firefighters responded to a grass fire.

• 8:27 p.m. Wednesday, Jackson and Nebraska roads, LOH firefighters responded to a grass fire.

• 7:01 p.m. Thursday, Thomas Terrace and Eisenhower Road, Centropolis firefighters responded to a grass fire.

• 11:46 p.m. Thursday, Old U.S. 59 and Shawnee Road, Centropolis firefighters responded to a vehicle fire.
