Stanley “Stan” Johnson, 78, Ottawa, Kan., passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Olathe Medical Center.

Cremation is planned. Memorial services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at the Church of the Nazarene. Family members plan to meet with friends at 1 p.m. Tuesday before services.

Stanley was born Sunday, Dec. 1, 1935 in Visalia, Calif., the son of Arthur “Art” and Erma (Willingham) Johnson.

He grew up in Arroyo Grande, Calif., and lived in various locations throughout the United States before moving to Ottawa in 2002.

He graduated from Arroyo Grande High School with the class of 1953 and attended Cal Poly University.

Stanley was united in marriage with Roxie Lee Howard Nov. 20, 1964, in Arroyo Grande. She preceded him in death in 1997.

Stan also was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his loving companion, Eileen Nickola; two daughters, Katherine Leigh Jones and husband, John, Twin Falls, Idaho, and Paula Kathleen Morrison, Oxford, Kan.; granddaughter, Bailey Elizabeth Morrison; grandson, Andrew Wesley Givens; siblings, Jeanine Bair and husband, Don, Nevada, Diane Smith and husband, Don, Nevada, and Jeff Johnson, California.

Stan worked for Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant, as a structural steel inspector, from 1977 to 1990; and as a milkman, for seven years, while living in Idaho.

Stan served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1961.

He was a member of The Poetry Room and was an avid bingo player.
