Joe R. Passantino, 72, Richmond, Kan., died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013.

Graveside services and inurnment for Joe and his wife, Jean, are planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Kechi Cemetery, Sedgwick County, Kan.

Joe was born Thursday, Jan. 16, 1941, in Fulton, Kan., the son of Charlie and Lola (Bartee) Passantino.

He lived in Wichita and Moran, Kan., moving to Richmond in 1975.

Joe attended schools in Fulton.

Joe and Jean were united in marriage April 15, 1973, in Wichita, Kan. She preceded him in death in 2010.

In 1973, Joe and Jean operated an upholstery business, known as “Tack and Hammer,” in Moran and Richmond. They also operated PB Imports in Richmond. He retired in 2008.

Survivors include his son, Michael Passantino; step-daughter, Vicki Lee Conner and husband, Jim, Brunswick, Md.; sister, Catherine Richey and husband, Kenneth, Wichita; nieces, Brenda Jantz and husband, Dwight, Valley Center, Kan., and Sherri DeJong and husband, Tom, St. Charles, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and step-daughter, Mary Ellen Dyche.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Alzheimer’s Association through Dengel & Son Mortuary 235 S. Hickory St., Ottawa KS 66067.
