Adalene B. Montgomery, 92, Garnett, died Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Anderson County Hospital Long Term Care, Garnett.

Cremation is planned. Graveside. Inurnment services is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Pleasant View Cemetery, Agricola, Kan.

She was born Saturday, May 15, 1920, in Rosemont, Kan., the daughter of Theodore and Beatrice (Horne) Sedgwick.

Adalene grew up in the Franklin County area and moved from Ottawa to Garnett in 1967.

She attended Stony Point School in Williamsburg, Kan., and graduated from Waverly High School with the class of 1939.

She worked as the chief telephone operator in Waverly, at the Osage County Clerk’s Office in Burlington, Elliot’s Dairy, Ben Franklin’s and Penn’s Apco in Garnett.

She attended the Church of Christ in Garnett and, while living in Ottawa, attended the Poplar Street Church of Christ.

Adalene was united in marriage with Merl J. Montgomery Saturday, March 20, 1943. He preceded her in death May 4, 1987.

Survivors include a son, Roger Montgomery, Garnett, Kan.; and nephew, Ted Norton, Phoenix, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merl J. Montgomery; mother, Beatrice Sedgwick; father, Theodore Sedgwick; son, Loren Dale Montgomery; daughter, Connie Lynn Montgomery; sister, Opal Norton; and nephew, Kenneth Norton.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Parkinson’s Foundation through Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory St., Ottawa KS 66067.
