Gary Dean Davis, 75, Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Ottawa Retirement Village.

Funeral services are planned for 10 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2014, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Davis after 1 p.m. Sunday to the service hour at the mortuary, where family members plan to meet with friends 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. Interment is set for Highland Cemetery, Ottawa.

Gary was born Tuesday, Aug. 9, 1938, in Linwood, Kansas, the son of Clarence and Velma (Troutman) Davis.

He lived in Ottawa since 1958, moving from Williamsburg.

He graduated from Williamsburg High School with the class of 1956.

Gary was united in marriage with Wanda Nitcher June 28, 1958, in Ottawa, Kansas. She survives of their home.

Survivors also include his two sons, Steven Davis, Ottawa, and Ron Davis and wife, Trina, Topeka; five grandchildren, Chris and Amy Campbell, Lisa and Kevin Davis and Amanda Lohman; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Annette Campbell; parents; and two brothers, Raymond and Richard Davis.

He worked for Western Resources, as an inspector, for 25 years retiring in 1995.

Gary served in the Kansas National Guard.

He was a member of the Ottawa Lodge No. 803, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and Ottawa Aerie Lodge No. 2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Gary will be remembered as a kind and caring person who loved spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed and remain in the hearts and thoughts of his family and friends forever.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Midland Hospice Care or Franklin County Cancer Foundation through Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory St., Ottawa KS 66067.
