Kaylie Kathleen Smith, 21, Olathe, Kan., died May 6, 2013.

Cremation is planned. A dual memorial service for Kaylie and her daughter, Lana Leigh Bailey, is set for 2 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. The family plans to meet with friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at the funeral home.

An obituary for Lana is planned later.

Kaylie was born Sunday, June 2, 1991, the daughter of Jim and Lisa (Pettijohn) Smith.

She lived in Ottawa most of her life.

She graduated from Ottawa High School with the Class of 2009, as well as from Neosho County Community College, receiving her certified nursing assistant (CNA) certification.

Kaylie worked for First Response as a security guard at American Eagle Outfitters distribution center in Ottawa.

Survivors include her mother, Lisa Smith, Olathe, Kan.; father, Jim Smith, Ottawa; sister, Shawna Pettijohn, Olathe; brother, Dylan Smith, and his wife, Nikki, and son, Alexander James, Ottawa; half-sisters, Amanda Moss and Elizabeth Ham; half-brother, Steven Reitmeyer; maternal grandparents, Anthony and Wilma Pettijohn, Olathe; paternal grandparents, Henry and Mary Smith-Itzen, Fairbury, Neb.; and aunts, Linda Journeys, Olathe, and Deb Cole, Lincoln, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lana Leigh Bailey; and great-grandmother, Oda Lee Pettijohn.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Kaylie Kathleen Smith Memorial Fund through Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory St., Ottawa KS 66067.
